WORKS ON PAPER

My artistic practice on paper is deeply inspired by the remarkable variety of line and form present in nature. I love to experiment and blend different images, delving into their interactions and relationships. My mixed-media creations incorporate various printing techniques using a press, and I create an array of printing plates from materials like Plexiglas, Mylar, Wet Media Acetate, and Gum Arabic-coated paper.

A distinctive approach I employ involves cutting frosted Mylar into positive stencils that I ink with color, which adds a flat layer of description to the final pieces. After manipulating images in Photoshop, I transfer them using my inkjet printer onto wet media acetate sheets treated with a digital transfer medium. I then print these onto wet Arches 88 Silk Screen paper, which lacks additives known as “sizing.” This characteristic allows my inks, graphite, and photo transfers to deeply penetrate the paper fibers, ensuring a durable bond.
Each artwork is handcrafted and unique, with additional embellishments applied once dry. My process resembles a collage technique, where an array of printing plates surrounds me as I compose each piece, guided by spontaneous inspiration. I often start with the image of a bird, a plant silhouette, or a botanical form, gradually weaving connections between these elements. This method fosters creativity in image blending, as I work to transform the imagined into something palpable and credible.
